Global norm‐making processes in contemporary multinationals

This paper contextualises and analyses global norm-making concerning the nature of work within multinational companies. We develop a framework for analysing relations between formal informal elements norm-making, stressing dynamic interdependencies formality informality on four dimensions: codification norms; enforcement mechanisms; use ‘platforms’ aggregation with wider contexts. investigate cases transnational spaces across two multinationals, analyse how these work, both norms practices that emanate from upper levels corporate hierarchies, those developed at lower among operational teams.
